Move over Toyota Venza. You're no longer the only dog-friendly car in town. At the New York auto show last week, Honda unveiled a new version of the Element chocked full of Fido-friendly features including a cushioned bed in the cargo area, pet restraint systems for the second row and cargo space, a rear ventilation fan and a spill-resistant water bowl. And for those dogs getting up in years, there's an extendable ramp out the back for easy access and rubber mats to prevent slipping and sliding. All of these new features only enhance the already easy-to-clean urethane floor, which has made the Element a popular car among pet owners since its introduction in 2005.
The pet-friendly auto is anticipated to launch this Fall. While the current model starts at a little more than $20,000, Honda has yet to determine how much this new dog-friendly version will cost.
So whether you choose the recently marketed Toyota Venza or the soon-to-be-launched Honda Element, one thing is for sure: your dog travels safely with you and your family. For this, we'd like to give a shout out (or should I say WOOF WOOF) to both auto manufacturers!
