Who knew? Dogs get jealous too. While most everybody who owns a dog likely [suspects] they get jealous of both other pets and people, until recently it has not been scientifically proven. The University of Vienna, Austria, conducted a study proving it's not only humans and other primates that suffer from the green-eyed monster, but also our fabulous furry friends.
In experiments with 43 dogs, author Friederike Range's team had one dog watch another dog receive a reward for doing a a trick. When the watching dog performed the same trick and was not rewarded (that doesn't sound very fair to me), that dog refused to do the trick again.
While this study just might be correct (I happen to believe it's true), it might simply prove that dog's are smarter than humans. They don't make the same mistake twice.
Wasn't it Albert Einstein who once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”?
Signing off.
This is so true. I have two chihuahuas but no kids yet. Last weekend my husband and I watched our friends' 18 mo. old. The pups were cool for awhile but did not like the attention we had to pay to the little one.
Anyone have similar experiences? How does this compare with bringing your own baby home and the way your dog(s) react?
